Tarot Confidential Blog.
The Tarot is an ancient divination technique which has been used throughout the centuries by many different cultures around the world. It is difficult to know where it originated, but it first arrived in Europe in the fifteenth century, as a card game played by nobility.
The Rider-Waite deck is one of the most famous Tarot decks available, but my personal favourite is the Tarot of The Cat People, which was created by Karen Kuykendall, a Californian artist who was born in 1928. It depicts a fantasy culture who populate a place called the "Outer Regions" an alien, mountainous wilderness, where cats are honoured and respected. Cats are depicted in some way on every card, and their people are involved in arts, sculpture, nature, music, study and architecture, depending on their place in the deck.
Many people are wary of Tarot cards, because of their association with the occult. I see the Tarot as a tool of clarity, much like a magnifying glass. It helps one to concentrate and focus on the important things in life, and gives the Querant, (or Questioner) a chance to take stock, evaluate and analyse the problems or issues which may be affecting their day-to-day life. The Tarot can also be seen as a set of sign-posts,which enlighten and guide the Querant through a time of confusion or indecision.
The cards indicate our past influences, our present path and point towards future possibilities. The Reading is not a prophecy or a statement of our fate or destiny, but acts as a guide to our actions, reactions and decisions, which will, hopefully, help us towards a more positve outlook, and a clearer attitude towards ourselves and others who matter to us.
People who have their Tarot Cards Read for them are many and varied. I like to think that most of the readings I have done for people have been helpful to them in some way. Occasionally, the cards do not seem to answer the particular question that has been asked, but instead, seem to focus on another area of the Querant's life. For instance, the Question may be to do with an expected move to a new address, and yet the cards concentrate on the emotions of the Querant. This, to me, would indicate that the emotions of the Querant may have a direct effect on the outcome of the prospective move. And could, in fact, jeopardise the deal, if the Querant allows his/ her emotions to affect their business dealings, in respect of the new property.
I realise that this may seem quite frustrating to the Querant, as they just want a straighforward answer to, "Will my new house purchase go smoothly?" but I cannot control how the cards fall, only read the meanings in the spread that is presented. However, if the Querant is open to the hints that the cards give, they may well realise that the focus of the reading is, in fact, more relevant than it would at first appear.
I really enjoy doing Readings for people, as I feel that it is a useful and positive activity. I recently did a "distance Reading", without the Querant being present, although they did shuffle the cards, first, while concentrating on their question, and choose which section of the pack the answer would be drawn from. Because I was able to take more time over the reading, and write out the results, I found it much more interesting and involving than usual. The detail in the results was quite astonishing, and I am sure that the questioner was entirely satisfied to have those results in writing, to be able to refer to at any time.
I found an interesting site one evening whilst browsing. It's called http://www.sofeminine.co.uk and they have lots of info on Astrology, Tarot, Horoscopes, Palmistry, Numerology, and all sorts of other fascinating subjects.
