Q: What sort of Question should I ask?

A: Your question needs to be specific and directly related to yourself. If the question is too general or vague, then the answer the cards give may also be vague or ambiguous. The Reading is achieved by the shuffling of the cards while concentrating on the question. The Querant then cuts the deck into three sections with the left hand, the hand which rules the subconcious, and chooses the card which seems to most apply to the question. Occasionally, the card will present itself to the Querant immediately, At other times, there may be a need for a basic explanation, such as, Swords represent problems or strife and Cups stand for emotions, Pentacles represent finances and Wands are representative of practical issues. The 22 cards of the Major Arcana are the most definitive and reveal the most obvious meanings, so any Major Arcana card that appears is often the best one to choose. The section containing the chosen card is placed at the top of the deck, and the Spread is dealt from that section. This may appear to be random, but the cards which appear then will have some bearing on the question or the Querant, and should contain a reasonably clear answer.

Q: What if I want to know when something will happen?

A: Tarot cards are not a Fortune-telling Device. Although they are often misrepresented as such in movies and  books. They cannot give particular dates, though they may suggest time-frames for the results indicated.  Usually, they show whether the indications are in the recent past, distant past, immediate future, or Final Result.

Q: Suppose I want to ask about a friend or Relative?

A: Your Question can be about another person , but you must ask in the context of your behaviour towards or concerns about that person. You must take responsibility for your own actions, and your own questions, with the Tarot cards, as the reading is specifically geared to you.

A: The reading is set at the particular time that the Question is asked, and the answers apply to the circumstances and influences surrounding the Querant at that time. Frequently, circumstances and surrounding influences can change from day to day, so the answers cannot be seen as being set in stone, but rather as a set of directions towards a particular goal or, perhaps, as a warning that a particular path is not leading where you hoped it would. Having said that, the answers given in almost every reading I've done, for myself and others, are usually so accurate that it almost makes me wonder how it works.

Q: How does the Tarot Work?

A: The Tarot works on many levels. But I think the best way to view it is as a guide to your subconcious. It is a way of accessing the desires and wishes of your own mind, and viewing them in the forefront of your thoughts. Therefore, it can be very useful in putting things into their proper perspective and being entirely honest with yourself. The actual cards which appear in your Reading can be representative of dozens of meanings, but if you use insight and allow your own instincts to interpret the Reading, the answers will present themselves to you so clearly that you may well find yourself thinking, "That was so obvious, why didn't it occur to me before?

Q: What if I get a "bad" card?

A:  There are some cards which indicate sadnesss, problems, even disasters or illness, but it depends where they fall in the general layout, and their relationships to the other cards in the Reading, as to what the indications are. They could be in the distant Past. In which case, although they may still be affecting the Querant, the effects are something which may already have been dealt with. If, however, the cards show problems arising in the Future, they still only apply to the circumstances and influences on the Querant in the Present, and forewarned is fore-armed, which means that the results of the Forecast may be averted or avoided, if the Querant is prepared to take action in order to change their circumstances or surrounding influences.
In conclusion, there are no "bad" cards, as every one has a purpose in the reading, whether it's as an insight, a prophecy, or as a warning. The Future is in our own hands, and the cards just act as a map, which we have free choice to follow slavishly or ignore completely.
